Sassuolo CEO Acknowledges Inter Interest in Davide Frattesi

Sassuolo chief Giovanni Carnevali has acknowledged Inter’s interest in highly-rated Davide Frattesi. However, according to Carnevali, the Lombard side’s interest in the up-and-coming midfielder does not necessarily mean the Neroverdi will sell their prized asset in the summer.

While enjoying his rise to stardom at Mapei this season, Frattesi has caught the eye of a host of top clubs in Italy and abroad. But Inter have emerged as the front-runners to capture the 22-year-old’s signature when the transfer window reopens for business in the summer.

Giuseppe Marotta’s keen eye for talents has naturally brought Frattesi close to the top of Inter’s shopping list, but Sassuolo could have other plans in their minds. Indeed, Carnevali insists the Neroverdi are aware of the growing interest in their rising star but refuses to commit to selling the Italian in the foreseeable future.

A number of top clubs in Italy and abroad have inquired about him,” he said as relayed by SempreInter. “He will eventually play at a high level, but it can’t be taken for granted that he’ll leave in the summer, he could also stay.

Following a few low-profile loan spells at Ascoli, Empoli and Monza, Frattesi returned to base in the summer. Little did anyone know the skilful midfielder would reach such heights in his maiden Serie A season with Sassuolo, developing into one of the league’s finest talents.

Frattesi has been Alessio Dionisi’s driving force in the engine room alongside Maxime Lopez this season. In addition to drawing a host of high-profile enquiries, the Sassuolo midfield dynamo has also earned attention for Italy’s national team head coach Roberto Mancini.

Frattesi could make the final cut for the upcoming World Cup play-offs, with Gli Azzurri set to take on North Macedonia in the semi-finals next month. Mancini will need strength in depth as Italy will likely meet Portugal in the play-off showpiece, so there is a strong case for the Sassuolo youngster to make his international debut in the coming months.
