Sassuolo CEO Corrects Berardi, January Move Not Likely

Domenico Berardi is fit again after months on the shelf and announced he’d be ready to move if the right offer arrived in January. However, the suitors will have to go through Sassuolo like in past windows, which won’t be easy despite the relegation.

CEO Giovanni Carnevali rushed to address the winger’s words to Radio Sportiva (via SOSFanta).

“He’s a special guy and a champion. He’s extraordinary humanly. I’ve been here for 12 years, and we received a lot of requests. He didn’t say that he wanted out. We always tried to find the best solution together. We have a special relationship. His recovery is the most important thing now.”

“Then, there’ll have to be the right conditions, like his desire and the team’s needs. There have never been major difficulties. I’m sure there’ll be some opportunities for him and the club. I’d be nice if he continued with us in our return to Serie A.”

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Juventus, Fiorentina, and Lazio, which inquired about him in the past, won’t target him in January since they are set. Berardi mentioned Atalanta, which signed Nicolò Zaniolo and Lazar Samardzic.

Sassuolo might not stand in his way if a top team materialized, but it might not happen. Their clear preference would be to keep him to help their promotion bid.

Our Take on Berardi

The ship might have sailed for him to join an elite side. The only potential opening could be at Milan if they ship off their current deputies, but they usually target youngsters. There could be perhaps a chance to go to Fiorentina. Andrea Colpani isn’t going like gangbusters, and they might opt to bring in a better competitor.
