Sassuolo CEO Issues Warning to Napoli on Raspadori Deal

While the back-and-forth between Sassuolo and Napoli continues, Giacomo Raspadori didn’t get the start in Monday’s game versus Juventus. CEO Giovanni Carnevali provided an update on the state of the negotiation to DAZN (via Corriere dello Sport).

“He’s a young player and an exemplary professional. By the way, he always trained in perfect fashion in the last few days. But it would be pointless to hide that the rumors can be destabilizing. The coach made this choice, and the talks have been lagging. It’s a pity that the transfer market denies us the chance to utilize a player of his caliber. The window should have ended before the opener in my mind. It’s a problem that is affecting the league.”

The Sassuolo exec stated that they are open to selling Raspadori to Napoli, but only on their terms.

“We wanted to keep him this year, we don’t obstruct anybody that wants to go, but we do deals at our conditions. It’s disappointing that there were private contacts between the agent and the buyer without looping us in. We forwarded our request to the Partenopei, and now we’ll see how it goes.”

Coach Alessio Dionisi weighed in on the attacker as well.

“He didn’t start to ease the pressure on him. The choice wasn’t affected by the transfer market. Subbing in during a match is different. I think he’s the person I talked to the most in the last few days. He loves to play and does it with great passion. He’s going through a particular moment, but he’s doing it serenely.”

According to Alfredo Pedullà, Raspadori reiterated to Sassuolo that he wanted to join Napoli.
