Sassuolo have left the door open to Domenico Berardi potentially leaving the club this summer following the club’s relegation. The winger has been linked to Napoli, Fiorentina, and Juventus in recent weeks. He’s recovering from an Achilles tear and will miss the first few months of the season. Director Giovanni Carnevali spoke to Sky.
“It may happen, but he has to focus on his challenging rehab now. It’s normal for this kind of players to draw requests each summer. We’ll see what arrives, as it has to be something meaningful. He’s our champion. We had enormous difficulties without him last season. The most important thing for him is to be fit, then we’ll evaluate the rest.”
Andrea Consigli could join Monza, but he’s thinking about it because Milan could target him if they couldn’t snap up Simone Scuffet.
“It’s true that we discussed a swap with Mattia Valoti, but things are stalling at the moment. There’s no issue between clubs. The player wants to ponder it.”
Sassuolo could sell another winger on top of Berardi, as Armand Laurienté is wanted by Lazio and multiple foreign outfits.
“Many clubs have asked for him. Olympique Marseille and Fenerbahce are keen too. José Mourinho was one of the first to move for him. Our valuation is important, it could be €15/20M. That’d be the right figure, but we’d rather renounce the income to keep him. However, we are aware that we’ll be in Serie B next season, which has its consequences. We’d like to return to the top division with these players, but their motivations have to be assessed. Eventually, the offers need to be worthy.”
