Davide Frattesi has been linked to Roma, Napoli, and Brighton and voiced his intention to play for the Giallorossi, his boyhood club. However, as the midfielder hinted himself, the suitors might have to wait until the summer. Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali dished on the budding star to Radio Kiss Kiss (via Il Resto del Carlino).
“I expect calls for him, and just not from Roma, but from other sides as well. He’s a player to whom we’d like to give the chance to join a big club. We never denied such opportunity to anybody, as long as our requests are met. He’ll further establish himself in the second half of the season.”
“We’ll see what possibilities will arise in the summer. There have been some offers already, not directly from the Giallorossi, but from abroad. However, I think that it’s unlikely that we’ll sell our most important players in January.”
In recent years, the Neroverdi parted ways with just one staple during the winter, Jeremie Boga. However, they were in a better position on the standings, he wasn’t having a great campaign, and they already had a replacement in-house. On top of dishing on Frattesi, Carnevali commented on Domenico Berardi and Andrea Pinamonti, who had troubles for different reasons.
“The former is fine physically, he’s practicing, and we’re confident he and the other injured players will recover fully. We invested on the Italian striker. He’s young and he’s replacing Gianluca Scamacca. We believe in him a lot and he’s part of the Azzurri pool. We’re satisfied with him and we have faith he’ll be able to achieve something important, even though we are aware he needs time to perform at high levels.”
