Sassuolo Confirm Record Scamacca Sale, Eye Replacement

Sassuolo and West Ham announced the transfer of Gianluca Scamacca Tuesday night. The striker moved for €36M plus €6M add-ons and a 10 percent sell-on clause. He became the most profitable sale in the history of the Neroverdi, Sky reports.

The record previously belonged to Manuel Locatelli, whom Juventus acquired for €25M plus add-ons. The Emilian side has a long history of pricey departures. They got just below such sum from Inter for Stefano Sensi and Matteo Politano and from Atalanta for Jeremie Boga. The Bianconeri paid a smidgen less than €20M for Simone Zaza and Merih Demiral. Nicola Sansone, Sime Vrsaljko and Gregoire Defrel transferred for around €15M back in the day.

Sassuolo plan to reinvest part of the Scamacca earnings on another striker. As per SportMediaset, they reignited their interest in Pisa’s Lorenzo Lucca, although Bologna are also vigorously chasing after him too. Andrea Pinamonti is on their radar as well, but his saga does not seem close to a resolution. They are also tracking Sampdoria’s Manuel De Luca, who played at Perugia last season, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

They already brought in Agustin Alvarez from Penarol earlier in the window. Despite Napoli lodging a strong bid for Giacomo Raspadori, the Neroverdi would like to avoid selling another forward. However, the attacker is keen on the move, Gianluca Di Marzio informs.

Our Take on Sassuolo Looking to Replace Scamacca

The names linked to them are all solid, although it wouldn’t be too surprising if they decided to stand pat. Coach Alessio Dionisi hinted that they could go with 4-3-3, at least until Hamed Traorè comes back from his foot injury. Raspadori, Alvarez and Defrel would suffice to fill the no.9 spot. In any case, they are unlikely to splurge on a new addition given their standard policy.
