Sassuolo Have Talented Georgian Duo in Their Crosshairs

Sassuolo have set their sights on Georgia to unearth their next gem and have started to track two Dinamo Tbilisi talents, Anzor Mekvabishvili and Giorgi Moistsrapishvili. They are particularly keen on the latter, who has already drawn lofty comparisons.

Per Tuttomercatoweb, the Neroverdi are firmly in the race, but they haven’t been the only ones to gather intel on the attacker. Copenhagen, Toulouse, Ludogorets, and Basel are also chasing after him. He has tallied two goals and two assists in eight appearances this year.

Sassuolo are eyeing Mekvabishvili and Moistsrapishvili as they will likely have to plug some holes in their respective roles next summer. Armand Laurienté has begun attracting the interest of major clubs with his recent spectacular showings. Moreover, Davide Frattesi is on his way out in the midfield. Maxime Lopez could depart as well due to some disagreements with the coach.

The Dinamo Tbilisi midfielder has already accumulated seven caps with Georgia. He previously captained the U-21 squad. He has been a regular among the pros in two consecutive campaigns already, scoring 6 times and providing 3 assists in 88 matches. Instead, his teammate burst onto the scenes in 2022 and was highly productive.

Our Take on Sassuolo, Mekvabishvili, and Moistsrapishvili

Serie A is a copycat league, so it’s easy to imagine somebody will try to lure further Georgian prodigies considering Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s immense success. The Neroverdi are very assertive when they identify a player they really like since they cash in a boatload of money each summer. They’ll surely have to replenish their roster in the summer. Therefore, such buzz and objectives are very believable.
