Sassuolo ace forward Domenico Berardi has been linked to many top European clubs this season but club CEO Giovanni Carnevali has shrugged off any possible move for the 27-year-old.
Speaking to Il Corriere della Sera (via MilanLive), Carnevali made his intention clear of keeping Berardi at the club, after the club lost young prodigy Manuel Locatelli to Juventus.
“No offer has formally arrived. In any case, we will not consider any negotiations. It took us two months to sell Locatelli to Juventus for €37.5m and now there are less than fifteen days to go until the transfer market. There would be no time. And in any case, for us Berardi has an even higher economic value,” he said
Berardi is valued at around the same range as his previous teammate – around €35m, according to transfermarkt. He has a contract valid until June 2024 with the Neroverdi.
Italian outlet Gazzetta di Modeno earlier claimed that Berardi had told Sassuolo that he wants to part ways with the intention of starting a new journey in his career. Milan and Fiorentina are said to be keeping close tabs on the talented forward, along with Premier League heavyweights Liverpool.
Berardi has not experienced football outside Sassuolo, having been part of a co-ownership deal at Juventus for two seasons, from where he was loaned back to Sassuolo for the duration of his stay.
He has 63 goals in 188 appearances for the Neroverdi.
