Sassuolo Inches Away from Finalizing Laurienté Deal

Sassuolo are frontrunners to complete the transfer of enigmatic Lorient forward Armand Laurienté, according to French outlet L’Equipe. The versatile 23-year-old has been in fantastic form of late, most recently bagging a thunderous free-kick in a 2-2 draw against Toulouse in Ligue 1. His exit from Les Merlus is touted to be imminent.

The winger has been tagged with a €12M valuation by Lorient, marginally more than his existing transfermarkt value. After revealing their dissatisfaction at the asking price earlier, the Neroverdi are likely to match the Ligue 1’s side demands ahead of fellow Serie A suitors Torino, which have been following the attacking talent for the past few windows.

He has a contract valid until the summer of 2024 with the French club. The Rennes youth product himself is in favor of the move, with the opportunity to experience football outside France for the first time in his career. His arrival will reduce the burden on the frontline, having just lost starlet Giacomo Raspadori to Napoli.

Our Take on Sassuolo Signing Laurienté

Laurienté is a force to be dealt with for defenses. The 23-year-old has the agility and physicality of a proper number 9, whereas his versatility allows him to drift further down on the wings to create space for fellow teammates. His style of play is certainly touted to benefit the Neroverdi.
