Sassuolo Loanee on Lazio’s Radar for the January Transfer Window

Lazio are reportedly interested in signing striker Francesco Caputo in next month’s transfer window.

The Biancocelesti are looking for a backup No.9 and have been linked to Bodø/Glimt’s Erik Botheim for some time now. However, according to Corriere Dello Sport (via LazioNews24) the club’s sporting director Igli Tare has identified Caputo as an option for the upcoming transfer window provided they are unable to sign the 21-year-old.

Following two good seasons with Sassuolo, the 34-year-old was loaned to Sampdoria and has featured frequently for them so far. Overall, Caputo has made 16 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals while providing four assists.

Lazio have a world-class striker in Ciro Immobile but apart from him, their centre-forward department needs reinforcements. There is Vedat Muriqi but he has been very unconvincing so far.

Another backup striker would be ideal for Maurizio Sarri and Caputo seems like an able option. Either way, it goes without saying that Lazio will be very keen on signing a No.9 next month as that is something they really, really need.
