Sassuolo Poised to Aquire Gremio Duo Matheus Henrique and Ruan

Sassuolo continue to negotiate with Juventus for Manuel Locatelli, but they have already found his replacement. They are in very advanced talks with Gremio to acquire Matheus Henrique, and they will soon finalize the purchase. The Neroverdi plan to sign center-back Ruan Tressoldi too, but he will likely arrive only in 2022.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Sassuolo will spend €10M for the 23-year-old midfielder, plus €3M add-ons. He has accumulated 112 appearances with Gremio over the last few seasons, scoring eight goals and providing three assists. He debuted with Brazil in October 2019 and is currently taking part in the Olympic Football Tournament.

Henrique has been playing with the Imortal Tricolor since he was 13 and became a regular once Arthur left to join Barcelona. He said in an interview: “We share a lot of similarities as we are both technical and play in the same position.” He subbed in for the Juventus midfielder in his lone game with the Seleçao. Coach Tite showered him with praise: “He is a very skilled passer. I like him a lot because he always practices very hard: He is on the right pathway to achieve excellence.”

Sassuolo will also acquire 22-year-old defender Ruan Tressoldi for €8M. However, as things stand, he will finish the season in Brazil and come over in January. He will replace his fellow compatriot Marlon, who followed Roberto De Zerbi to Shakhtar Donetsk. He has played over 30 matches with Gremio in the last two campaigns. Torino were after him as well.
