Sassuolo Star Agent Downplays Links to Napoli Transfer

Napoli reportedly laid their eyes on Armand Laurienté, but the Frenchman just joined Sassuolo, and he’s unlikely to move again soon. His agent Roberto Menoli talked to Radio CRC (via Fantacalcio).

“He had done well the previous season too even though he wasn’t starring in his ideal position. He transferred on deadline day and played right away. I knew he’d thrive, but I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. The Neroverdi are putting him in the best possible conditions to succeed.”

Napoli director Giuntoli is said to be a big fan of Laurienté.

“We hear the rumors, and not just related to them. It’s pleasing, but I think that he has to stay focused and perform the best he can this season. We received offers that were superior to Sassuolo’s one last summer. However, he picked them because he wants to grow and reach a top team as a protagonist and not as a gamble. He has to improve in the box and needs to be fiercer because he has the skills to do it. He has what it takes to be called up by France.”

The 24-year-old has logged two goals and three assists in nine Serie A appearances.

Our Take on Napoli and Laurienté

He’s surely talented, and even though he can’t be considered a youngster, he might have only scratched the surface of what he could potentially become since he alternates devastating plays with lulls. Sassuolo are savvy and will choose the right timing to maximize the earnings. But the Partenopei are a far-fetched landing spot since he’s at his best in the same role as a certain Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
