Sassuolo Star Headed to Bournemouth in Late Transfer

Sassuolo won’t sell Davide Frattesi to Roma, but they will still complete a mammoth deal in the final days of the window. Hamed Traoré will move to Bournemouth in a €30M package, add-ons included. The Cherries used on the Ivorian playmaker what they were willing to spend for Nicolò Zaniolo, Sky reports.

The Neroverdi will bring in his replacement from Empoli. They are in advanced talks to onboard Nedim Bajrami. The Albanian attacker hasn’t had a great season after failing to depart last summer and has been outshined by Tommaso Baldanzi. The Emilian side will pay €6M.

Traoré missed months due to a foot fracture in the second half of 2022. He recently resumed playing regularly and has logged 3 assists in 11 appearances. He has been at the club since 2019 and posted seven goals and two helpers in the past campaign, his best one so far.

Empoli plot to substitute Bajrami with a pair of youngsters. They are negotiating with Bologna for Emanuel Vignato and with Atalanta for Roberto Piccoli. Both forwards would transfer on initial loans should the teams strike an agreement.

Our Take on Sassuolo and Traoré

Nobody quite cashes in like the Neroverdi, which might have done in the summer if he hadn’t gotten hurt. They lose one of their top weapons just as he was getting his mojo back, but the price tag is mouth-watering. Bajrami needs a change of scenery, and he gives them the flexibility to switch to a straightforward 4-2-3-1 if they want to. Empoli are in a very comfortable spot no matter what. They will take a chance on a pair of talents that have yet to blossom. Good deals all around.
