Sassuolo Star in High Demand, Chelsea and Milan Among Contenders

Chelsea have inquired with Sassuolo about Domenico Berardi. They are not the only team coveting the Italian winger, as Borussia Dortmund and West Ham asked for information too. His price tag is around €40M and, differently from other summers, he is not a lock to stay put, transfer market Alfredo Pedullà reports.

Chelsea previously contacted Juventus for Federico Chiesa, but he is staying with the Bianconeri. They are looking for a new piece with those traits to add to their frontline. Instead, Dortmund have shortlisted Berardi as they need to replace Jadon Sancho and might sell Julian Brandt as well.

Milan and Lazio have shown interest in the Sassuolo star as well, but he might be too expensive for them. Leicester pursued him during the Euro, but Sassuolo postponed the talks, BBC informed. When asked about the future of the attacker, CEO Giovanni Carnevali replied: “I can not guarantee that he will stay.” His side would not obstruct him if he wanted out.

Berardi stated in May: “I hope to play in a European competition in the future. I turned down some offers in the past because I did not think I was ready. I would evaluate proposals to move to a big team this summer, should I get one.”

The forward has spent his entire career with Sassuolo. Since 2012, he has made 291 appearances, scoring 105 times and providing 67 goals. He is coming off his most productive campaign as he bagged 17 goals in 2020/21. He opened the Euro as the starter before Chiesa leapfrogged him in the hierarchy.
