Sassuolo Tracking Barcelona Loanee Playing for Elche

Sassuolo could bolster their squad in January and have Alex Collado in their crosshairs. The winger is currently on loan to Elche, but he could ask out since they are at the bottom of the table. Olympiacos are also keen on the 23-year-old attacker, Sport informs.

He has registered one goal and one assist in ten matches in La Liga and Copa del Rey this season. He had scored twice and set up a teammate in 17 fixtures with Granada in the previous campaign. The forward has mostly played at the youth level for Barcelona, registering two caps with the first team.

Sassuolo have a good relationship with the Blaugrana, which could help them land Collado. They previously acquired Marlon from them for €12M in 2018 and arranged the loan of Kevin-Prince Boateng to Catalunya the following year. The two sides also collaborated in the Antonio Sanabria deal back in the day.

The Neroverdi have recently been linked to two further options to shore up their roster. Per Sky (via Calciomercato), they are keen on José David Romero, who has collected 13 appearances with Talleres this year. In addition, Roma offered Eldor Shomurodov in the Davide Frattesi package, La Repubblica relays (via Tuttomercatoweb).

Our Take on Sassuolo Eyeing Collado

Nobody forbids stacking up players, but the Emilian side is in a good spot offensively. Domenico Berardi has gotten healthy during the break. There are excellent chances he’ll resume being a force in the second half of the season, cannibalizing the minutes in that position. In addition, they already have some youngsters that can deputize him, such as Luca D’Andrea, Janis Antiste, and Emil Ceide. If they spend, it’ll probably be in the midfield.
