Saudi Arabia Boss Herve Renard: “Giroud is Exemplary”

Saudi Arabia coach Herve Renard has praised Milan for possessing a credible and competitive squad, focusing on France legend Olivier Giroud. The French tactician believes the Supercoppa Italiana final, which is to be played in the capital city of Riyadh, is going to be as exciting as ever, backing the presence of French players in Milan’s roster.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) in an exclusive interview, Renard shed light on the Rossoneri’s competencies when asked if he asked any preferences between Inter and Milan.

“Preferences? I have several friends at Milan: Maignan was a player of mine, too bad he isn’t there. And then Giroud, exemplary. It doesn’t surprise me because in addition to a great footballer he is a serious person. He won with Montpellier, not easy, between Arsenal and Chelsea he learned a lot and now he has an extraordinary maturity. I laughed when in 2018 they criticized him because he didn’t score in the national team. He knows how to do many things and for this he is still there. France has many young people but he is always the top. And for an attacker to stay at certain levels at 36 is not easy. I think Milan and Milan have a great weight in this sense: big city and big club.”

The Nerazzurri and Rossoneri meet for the first time ever in Saudi Arabia, as they compete for the premier title of the season. Both sides come into the game on the back of shaky results as they play catch up to Napoli in the race for the Scudetto.
