Saudi Arabia to Target a Few Serie A Stars and Coaches

Saudi Arabia plucked a pair of high-profile Serie A players last summer. Their raid could be more substantial next summer, and a few stars and bosses could give in to the wealthy courtship.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the up-and-coming championship has laid eyes on two new options: Adrien Rabiot and Christian Pulisic. The former is on an expiring contract and could earn €25M annually there. The USMNT ace joined Milan in the most recent window and has a ton of appeal marketing-wise.

Saudi Arabia will make further attempts for those who repelled its advances in the recent past: Romelu Lukaku, Paulo Dybala, and Ciro Immobile. The last one is the most likely to accept. The league also wishes to lure top-shelf coaches and has set sights on José Mourinho and Maurizio Sarri. They might both be in their final seasons with their respective clubs.

The Special One already sits on the board of the Mahd Sports Academy. He’ll probably transfer full-time and take over a side if an elite European club doesn’t offer him a job. His Roma contract will run out in June and the extension talks have yet to start, which is a hint for the future.

Saudi Arabia plots to increase the number of foreigners allowed in each squad from eight to ten and create two more teams to attract more elite footballers from Europe.
