Gianluca Scamacca not so subtly hinted that he wished to depart West Ham after an underwhelming and injury-plagued season and believes he will fare better at his next stop. He talked with Cronache di Spogliatoio.
“I’ve been bombarded by transfer market-related posts on Instagram for two years. I’m still an unexpressed player for many people. I know I have hidden skills, but I’m 100 percent certain I’ll be a bargain for whoever signs me. The one thing I’m missing is to be at the right place at the right time. Only time will tell where that will be.”
Scamacca has been linked to Roma and Inter this summer.
“I don’t think I will ever truly reach the finish line. I’ve short and long-term goals in mind. If I scored 20 goals next season, I would aim to bag 22 in the following campaign. I’ve always been tough on myself and very demanding. I’ve been born and raised in the streets of Rome.”
Scamacca moved to West Ham in a €36M transfer, plus €6M add-ons, last summer. The Serie A teams have been trying to bring him back to Italy on loan with option to buy. The Irons could be more lenient on the formula once they find a replacement.
