Schuurs Amid Bidding War as Liverpool Lead the Line

As Torino eye Udinese center-back Rodrigo Becao, Perr Schuurs is gradually nearing the exit door. The stopper continues to draw attention from Serie A and Premier League clubs, as Liverpool lead the line of high-profile clubs in race for his signature. The former Ajax center-back has witnessed a drastic rise in his valuation, which is expected to be met sooner rather than later.

According to Tuttosport, Liverpool are expected to table a second bid for the highly-rated defender, after their initial offer of €30M was outright turned down by Granata director Davide Vagnati. Torino expect an offer in the region of €35-40M for Schuurs to land in their coffers.

However, with heightened interest in Schuurs, Liverpool are in the race against time to sign him. Premier League rivals West Ham United and Crystal Palace have also registered concrete interest, but are yet to submit an official offer.

Scudetto holders Napoli, on the other hand, already tabled an offer for Schuurs, way before the Reds did, but it was one which was deemed unacceptable by Torino. Inter were also once in the running.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp views Schuurs as the future of his side’s defence, following a poor 2022/23 season that saw them marred by inconsistent displays and injury problems at the back.
