Secret Easter Meeting Indicates Roma Transfer for Aouar

Olympique Lyonnais talent Houssem Aouar has been tracked by top clubs this season, with his free agency bound to materialize at the end of the season. Real Betis, Napoli, Milan, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Roma have all kept close tabs on the 24-year-old, who has reportedly passed his medical already at the latter club.

According to the latest reports from Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi subjected Aouar to a concrete approach, which prompted the player to carry out part of the physical tests at the Campus BioMedico in Roma’s Trigoria complex.

Apparently, the team used his Easter Monday visit to the Italian capital to ascertain the state of his fitness, mainly regarding his ankles and knees. Roma want to sign Aouar on a five-year contract deal, with his payscale set at around €3M net per season. The midfielder has scored 41 goals in 229 games for Lyon since graduating from the club’s youth academy.

Roma director Tiago Pinto was coy on their chase when quizzed about it by Sky before the Europa League game versus Feyenoord, half-heartedly denying the player took the medicals but confirming their interest (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“I don’t want to do like Ferrari in Formula One, which are often in pole position but then don’t get to the finish line. He has often been linked to us, and he’s a great player.”
