Serie A Giants Join Transfer Race for 2.Bundesliga Starlet Breithaupt

Roma and Fiorentina are two clubs starkly interested in pursuing the signature of 20-year-old German starlet Tim Breithaupt from Karlsruher SC. Breithaupt has been the subject of great interest from within Germany, with no fewer than five top-flight sides onto his trail.

Borussia Monchengladbach are said to be leading the transfer race, having recently invited the youngster to trial at their ground. But the presence of the two Serie A giants spices things up.

According to Calciomercato.it (via Voce Giallorossa), Roma are trying their best to catch up with Monchengladbach by initiating contact with the 2.Bundesliga outfit for the defensive midfielder.

Breithaupt has a contract valid until the summer of 2024, and Karlsruher are expected to cash-in on his services at the end of the end in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer the year after. He would be allowed to move for a transfer fee in the region of €5M.

It is understood that Breithaupt is open to moving to Serie A. However, several other German giants are monitoring his situation keenly, including Borussia Dortmund, VfL Wolfsburg, Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt.
