Serie A Officials React to Tough Champions League Draw

The four Serie A representatives will have their work cut out for them in the group stage of the 2022/2023 Champions League, as each has been paired up with a powerhouse, two in Inter’s case.

Coach Simone Inzaghi weighed in to Sky.

“We know it’s a very prestigious competition. We will face very strong and well-organized teams.  As always, we will prepare every game the best we can. There isn’t any easy and predictable match at this level. Inter will take on this cup with enthusiasm, trying to build over what we accomplished last season.”

Vice-president Javier Zanetti looked back at their treble.

“We will face those same opponents, although in a different stage. But this is a different era, and football has changed. Bayern Munich are well-established, while Xavi gave Barcelona precise identity. We will have to be in top shape when the fixtures start. But we are growing too.”

Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti dished on the club’s site.

“It’s a tough group, like almost all the others. The most important thing will be to try measuring up with the most prestigious competition in the word, which would also boost our chances of advancing.”

Milan director Paolo Maldini talked to the team’s TV (via Calciomercato).

“We were in pot one, so it’s less difficult than last year on paper. Then difficulties are always around the corner. Salzburg have solid history. We are the favorites alongside Chelsea. Having another big team can help. We are happy with the result.”

Juventus vice-president Pavel Nedved addressed the criticism to SportMediaset.

“It’s not useful. The season has just started, we wanted to some more points, but we need tranquillity to work better. It was unfair. We didn’t have four starters against Sampdoria due to injuries.”
