The negotiation with Eintracht Frankfurt went into overtime, but Juventus managed to reach full agreement and Filip Kostic landed in Turin earlier today.

Serie A Quartet Embroiled in Race For Filip Kostic

Filip Kostic could finally complete his long-awaited move to Serie A this summer as four top Italian sides look to lure him away from Eintracht Frankfurt. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter, Juventus, Napoli and Lazio are firmly embroiled in the race to sign the Serbia international.

Kostic was long on Inter’s radar before Lazio tried to take him to the Stadio Olimpico last summer. The Biancocelesti seemed close to reaching an agreement with Frankfurt, but the deal collapsed at the 11th hour. They, nonetheless, remain keen on signing the 29-year-old.

Unlike last summer, Lazio will have to beat not only Inter to capture Kostic’s signature. Juventus and Napoli are also in the mix, especially the former. Massimiliano Allegri is in the market for an attacking-minded left-back to compete with Alex Sandro for a place in the starting XI.

Juventus have come closer to signing Kostic than all other suitors this season. Contacts with Frankfurt have been made, though there’s no agreement yet. It leaves the race wide open, with Inter considering reigniting their interest in the former Hamburger SV man.

Kostic’s contract at Frankfurt runs until next summer. That could facilitate his exit in the coming months, as Die Adler aim to cash in on their in-demand star. Given the wing-back’s stellar 2021/22 season, they should be able to make some profit on the Serb’s potential departure.

Instead of moving to Serie A last summer, Kostic has stayed put. That has proved a pinpoint decision. He starred for Frankfurt on multiple fronts in 2021/22, helping his side win the Europa League. And now would be a perfect time for him to take his career to the next level.
