Shakhtar Donetsk Ace Confirms Bids from Serie A Giants

Georgyi Sudakov was tracked by major clubs last summer, including a few Italian ones like Juventus, Napoli, and Milan, but he will spend an extra season, or at least a few more months, at Shakhtar Donetsk. He talked with La Repubblica.

“It’s true that I received offers from Serie A, but my team rejected them.”

A few Ukrainian players are starring for major outfits, for instance, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Mykhaylo Mudryk, and Artem Dovbyk.

“I think that our talent, hard-working attitude, and desire to aim at an objective without sparing energies are key. Nowadays, young footballers aspire to reach their goals even more desperately. They give up their youth to have a chance to make it.”

Sudakov recalled the start of the war in Ukraine.

“My wife was about to give birth, and we hid from the Russian missiles in a bunker. I was very worried about my family members. Those emotions that are impossible to express. I’ve been born in Bryanka in the Lugansk region. My city was occupied in 2014, and I can no longer visit my hometown.”

“Russia took away my childhood memories in 2014 and my football dream in 2022. Those were the most terrifying days of my life. I thought I’d never play again and that I would have to become a truck driver or work at a carwash service. Instead, after a while, we started organizing the first games for charity. Not being able to play in Ukraine was exhausting. We had to travel a few days for each match. But it’s nothing compared to what our soldiers are going through. Many of our compatriots are abroad, and we perceive their support.”
