Simon Kjaer Backs Olivier Giroud to Stay Put in Milan Colors

Danish defender Simon Kjaer believes Giroud will be at Milan for the foreseeable future. France beat Denmark 2-1 to become the first team to progress to the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 stage, thanks to a brace by Kylian Mbappe. The defeat means Denmark are knocked out of the event with a game to spare.

Kjaer spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) and gave his thoughts on the potential renewal of Olivier Giroud with the Rossoneri.

“If Oli renews with Milan? We haven’t talked about it but come on, I really think Olivier will stay with us again next season.”

36-year-old Giroud has been in stunning form this season, having already matched Thierry Henry 51-goal record for France. He has 9 goals and 5 assists in 19 appearances for Milan this campaign.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal striker sees his contract expire in the summer of 2023, but is yet to receive an offer from the Rossoneri management. However, they are expected to hand him an extension offer right after the World Cup during the winter transfer window.
