Simone Inzaghi Comments on Derby and Inter Moves in January

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi sat down with the press to discuss the Derby: “We are headed for an intense stretch, and it will be stimulating to face so many high-caliber opponents. The clash with Milan is very important to our fans, and we are fully aware of that. I do not think it will be decisive, though. We were seven points below them before the first one, and we came back. There are still 15 games to go.”

“It would be nice to have a packed San Siro, and not just 50 percent. It makes a difference. We hope to hear good news on that front soon. We must not let our guard down and be responsible from here on out.”

The gaffer addressed their January additions: “We have capable executives and a great president. We inserted two players that will help us out. Robin Gosens will need some time, but he was an excellent purchase. I have already coached Felipe Caicedo for three years. We seized this opportunity since Stefano Sensi wished to play with more regularity. I am happy with what we did.”

Inzaghi indicated their primary penalty kick taker entering the Derby: “Our list is well-known, and Lautaro Martinez is at the top, but Hakan Calhanoglu and Ivan Perisic can take them too. I do not think there are favorites in this type of match. Both sides are very solid and organized. The motivations and the episodes will make the difference. Martinez is fine after international duties, while Alexis Sanchez assured me that he is fit. Only Gosens and Joaquin Correa are out.”

“I think the table is truthful concerning the title race. Milan, Atalanta, Napoli, and Juventus are all in the running. The Bianconeri have been doing very well lately and had a great January window.”
