Six Premier League Sides Keeping Tracks of Inter Defender Skriniar

As many as six Premier League sides have taken a genuine interest in Inter center-back Milan Skriniar amid the player’s contractual wobble. As per recent reports in England, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur are keen to land the in-demand defender.

Skriniar came close to joining Ligue 1 powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. However, despite PSG’s utmost effort to get the deal over the line, Inter refused to let go of their influential first-team figure. Last season’s Serie A runners-up went as far as to demand north of €70m for the Slovakia international.

Fast forward a few months, Inter may come to regret their decision to play hardball with Les Parisiens. With just over half a year left to run on Skriniar’s contract, the Nerazzurri face the prospect of losing the 27-year-old on a free transfer at the end of the season. But it’s not all done yet.

Inter remain optimistic about extending the Slovakian’s contract as they still believe the ex-Sampdoria man will perform a U-turn on his future. To date, Skriniar has been reluctant to pledge his long-term future to Giuseppe Meazza, putting numerous Premier League clubs on red alert.

According to TEAMtalk, via Football365, six top clubs from England are keen to land a ‘soon-to-be free agent’ next summer.

Chelsea could be the most realistic destination, even though they captured the services of Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana last summer. Both players have failed to impress at Stamford Bridge, creating an urge for a new central defender.

Meanwhile, Inter are running out of time. Unless they convince Skriniar to have a change of heart and commit to new terms soon, they may have to consider offloading him in January. Let’s not forget they dashed out €34m to lure him away from Sampdoria in 2017.
