Milan Skriniar might play his last home game with Inter later today versus Empoli. The defender is poised to join PSG, but it remains to be seen whether he’ll do it in January already or at the end of the season on a free transfer, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Nerazzurri have pretty much abandoned hopes of coming to terms on a new contract. They might try to limit the damage at this point. They have set a €20M price tag for an immediate transfer. The ball is in PSG’s court.
The Ligue 1 giants have been confident about bagging the Slovak for a long time, the publication adds. Skriniar will earn €9M per year in Paris, at least a pair of million more than the richest proposal Inter can tender.
Christophe Galtier was quizzed about the defender during a recent presser (via Sky).
“I don’t know if he’ll come in this window or down the line. The management is working hard, and I have a lot on my plate with my players already.”
Our Take on Skriniar and Inter
The Nerazzurri successfully took the talks with Marcelo Brozovic down the wire last season, but each situation is different, and apparently, they won’t be able to do the trick this time around. It’s an unmitigated disaster from the economic standpoint, as they had received rich offers, and from the technical one too. Given the meager sums circulating, they are better off sticking it out because they’d struggle to find a good replacement in a week or so.
