Skriniar Vows to Stay as Perisic Formally Leaves Inter

On the day Ivan Perisic said goodbye to Inter to sign with Tottenham, Milan Skriniar said he was not going anywhere. The defender talked with Spanish newspaper Sport from the Slovenia camp (via Sky).

“Every year, if not every six months, I read speculations on the matter. I know nothing about it. I am under contract with the Nerazzurri, and I am super satisfied and happy to be there.”

The center-back commented on the Scudetto.

“It slipped through our hands. We were unable to properly manage some games. In particular, the second Derby. We had the lead with late in the match, and we conceded two goals in the span of three minutes, even though we were the better side. I think it was a key turnaround of the season, alongside the fixture against Bologna. In any case, we were able to take home two trophies in the recent campaign.”

The words of Skriniar are consistent with previous reports suggesting that the Inter powerbrokers are open to partying ways with Alessandro Bastoni or Stefan De Vrij, but not with him. He was their most capped defender this season as he featured in 48 matches.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri and the star center-back are discussing an extension until 2027. His current deal runs out in 2023, but the club does not foresee any issue, nor is he personally looking for a way out. His new wages should amount to €4.5M per year plus healthy bonuses, as it happened with Nicolò Barella.
