Sottil Backs Udinese to Sign Striker as Beto Moves to Everton

Udinese coach Andrea Sottil has given his full confidence to the Friulani faithful with regards to signing a striker to substitute for Beto. Udinese have failed to find the net properly this season, most recently falling to a 1-1 draw at Salernitana, as they remain winless in their two games so far.

Sottil spoke to Udinese’s official channels (via Tuttomercatoweb) after the dead heat at Stadio Arechi, first shining light on the draw.

“I’m sorry for the lads, it’s been a tough week and they wanted to play a good game on a difficult pitch, and they did. We were aggressive, we created many chances and conceded little. Too bad for the goal conceded. Salernitana came out wanting to win the game and we should have remained lucid, but I’m happy for the boys.”

On the overall performance, Sottil backed his side to continue their momentum despite the draw.

“It’s the response I wanted to the match against Juventus. We recovered a lot of high balls, shot a lot on goal and forced their goalkeeper to make great saves. We have to grow and we will grow, but this is the attitude I want”.

Finally, he shed light on Lorenzo Lucca.

“He played a great match. It wasn’t easy to do damage up front there, he stretched the team, came close to scoring and provided an assist.”

Beto completed a €30M move to Everton Tuesday afternoon.
