SPAL Owner Backs De Rossi to Excel as Head Coach

Daniele De Rossi will head SPAL in his first experience as a head coach after the Ferrara-based club sacked Roberto Venturato due to their poor start to the season. The ex-Roma veteran will reunite with owner Joe Tacopina, with the CEO having held executive positions at the Giallorossi for a handful of years in the early 2010’s.

De Rossi spent the last eighteen months on Roberto Mancini’s staff with the Italian national team and Tacopina believes he is positive of the potential impact the former hard-headed midfielder will have on the team.

Speaking exclusively to RomaPress.net, the ex-Roma, Bologna and Venezia executive shed light on his decision to appoint De Rossi as the Biancoazzurri’s next tactician.

“Daniele is a natural born leader, he’s someone I’ve been very close with for thirteen years. When we were at Roma together, I saw a unique set of leadership qualities in him. When he was still playing, it was like having a manager with you on the pitch.”

SPAL are currently 14th in Serie B. De Rossi is touted to head his first match when they visit Cittadella, who are level with them on points in the league.
