Spalletti Believes It’s Easy to Replace Him in Naples

Luciano Spalletti guided Napoli to a 2-0 victory over lowly Sampdoria in the final game of the season. The Partenopei ended their historic campaign with 90 points – their second-best tally in a single season following a 91 point haul under Maurizio Sarri in 2017/18. Spalletti believes it will be easy for his successor to continue Napoli’s winning spirit next season.

Spalletti dished his mind to the microphones of Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli (via TuttoNapoli) after the win against the Blucerchiati.

“There have been many sacrifices made for the Scudetto, but evenings like this pay off for everything. I wish I could pass on the affection and love that has been given to me, hoping to see parties like this again one day. I know what the Neapolitans think of me when I meet tides of children who come to hug me.”

He further revealed the aura he felt during his stay in the south of Italy.

“What did I tell the team? It’s a team of good guys and sensitive people, I felt like family and that made the difference. I hope this party and this joy in Naples lasts as long as possible. The team is very strong, and there are competent people and a fantastic group of guys – it is the basis and substance of a city built to love football.”

Finally, Spalletti spoke of the legacy he leaves behind at the club.

“My legacy? In my opinion, it’s an easy situation to come to work in, but football is serious and difficult stuff. The ownership and management will know how to move forward.”
