Spalletti Exalts Fiorentina’s Viola Park: “I Couldn’t Believe My Eyes”

Fiorentina chief Rocco Commisso welcomed a delegation of high-profile officials for the inauguration of Viola Park, including Italy national team coach Luciano Spalletti. The Scudetto title holder with Napoli was in awe of what has come to fruition in the southeast of Florence, in the Bagno a Ripoli area.

Speaking at the opening event in Firenze, Spalletti heaped praise on Fiorentina for bringing to life an innovative project.

“I had heard about Viola Park as a beautiful structure, but when I saw it in person today, I couldn’t believe my eyes: it is a step in the future not only for Fiorentina, but for all Italian football, a model example to be taken. The new sports center makes the identity of the team, the fans, and the city stronger.” (via ViolaNews)

Spalletti believes it is no coincidence Fiorentina have increased their quality as a team in recent years.

“And in fact, I don’t think that Viola’s current successes should be considered a coincidence: beyond the skill of the coach and the merits of the players, we must consider the energy, the enthusiasm, the positive energy that a home like Viola Park has been able to give. On the other hand, at this moment, the clubs capable of building modern stadiums and sports centers of this level demonstrate their love for Italian football and want a better future.”

The state-of-the-art facility is set to rival some of the most modern club centers in the country, giving competition to training centers Juventus’ Continassa, Milan’s Milanello, Lazio’s Formello, Roma’s Trigoria, and Inter’s Suning.
