Spalletti Hails Napoli Fighting Spirit After Comeback Against Legia Warsaw

Round four of group games in the Europa League witnessed Napoli come from a goal behind to score four goals in the second-half and go top of Group C with 7 points, one ahead of Legia Warsaw and two ahead of Leicester City.

Head coach Luciano Spalletti has started his Partenopei career on a high note, praising his team after the match for showcasing fighting spirit in Poland, in a bid to excel in Europe this season.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia in his post-match press conference, the ex-Roma tactician commented: “The team put in a great performance this evening, proving it is capable of fighting for a victory as well and not just being comfortable. We made life complicated for ourselves with the early errors, but the boys were always determined to get things back on track. Whatever it is that you call, squad rotation evidently worked.”

The victory allowed Napoli to leapfrog Legia Warsaw on top of group rankings as things stand.

“This is a competition that will become wonderful and we need great things to stay in it. We can’t back out now. I congratulate my players, because they have the right attitude. Legia Warsaw caused us a lot of problems over the two games and they were even more determined this time after the change of coach.,” he explained.

Napoli remain unbeaten in Serie A, having gone without defeat for 11 games. They sit ahead of Milan, who are also unbeaten, on goal difference – with 31 points each out of a possible 33.
