Spalletti Pontificates in Front of a Few Familiar Faces

Luciano Spalletti held one of his first lessons since becoming the Italy gaffer at the Coverciano training center, speaking to those who will begin studying to become either sports directors or coaches (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“When this place needs me, I always say yes. I’ve learned a lot and spent plenty of time here. Without the availability of my teachers, I could have never been in paradise while still alive. Being the Azzurri boss is the pinnacle of my career.”

Spalletti held his speech in front of several familiar faces, starting with the head of the Italy delegation Gianluigi Buffon, who will take on the 144-hour course to become an exec.

The legendary goalkeeper will be joined by 1982 World Cup winner Daniele Massaro, Sampdoria’s head of performance Daniele Legrottaglie, former midfielders Simone Missiroli and Vincenzo Grella, and Nice’s team manager Simone Ricchio.

A few well-known personalities enrolled in the UEFA Pro course too: Alessandro Del Piero, who appears to have abandoned his hopes of entering the Juventus management, Ignazio Abate, who’s guiding Milan’s Primavera, and a few ex-footballers. For instance, Andrea Dossena, Marco Parolo, Giampiero Pinzi, who has spent time on some benches as an assistant, Ibrahim Ba, Cristian Ledesma, Guglielmo Stendardo, and Simone Padoin, who has been part of Massimiliano Allegri’s staff in Turin for a couple for seasons already.
