Spalletti Revises Italy Squad, Adds Bologna Hero Orsolini

One of the notable absences in Luciano Spalletti’s initial 27-man squad for Italy’s upcoming UEFA Euro Qualifier games against Malta and England was Riccardo Orsolini. The Bologna forward, despite putting up impressive displays in recent outings, missed out on the national team call-up, but that has been revised, as per Calciomercato.

While Ivan Provedel and Mattia Zaccagni were expected to show up, the final decision regarding their presence in consultation with Lazio will take place on Monday. Both aforementioned players suffered minor injury setbacks in the win against Atalanta. Spalletti wants no last-moment hassles and has already decided to call upon Orsolini.

Here is the revised list of players called up for the upcoming matches.

Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Donnarumma (Paris Saint Germain), Alex Meret (Napoli), Ivan Provedel (Lazio)*, Guglielmo Vicario (Tottenham);

Defenders : Francesco Acerbi (Inter), Alessandro Bastoni (Inter), Cristiano Biraghi (Fiorentina), Matteo Darmian (Inter), Giovanni Di Lorenzo (Napoli), Federico Dimarco (Inter), Federico Gatti (Juventus), Gianluca Mancini (Roma) , Giorgio Scalvini (Atalanta), Destiny Udogie (Tottenham);

Midfielders : Nicolò Barella (Inter), Giacomo Bonaventura (Fiorentina), Bryan Cristante (Roma), Davide Frattesi (Inter), Manuel Locatelli (Juventus), Sandro Tonali (Newcastle);

Attackers: Domenico Berardi (Sassuolo), Federico Chiesa (Juventus), Moise Kean (Juventus), Riccardo Orsolini (Bologna), Giacomo Raspadori (Napoli), Gianluca Scamacca (Atalanta), Mattia Zaccagni (Lazio)*, Nicolò Zaniolo (Aston Villa).

Orsolini can look forward to impressing Spalletti, as he commented in a recent interview.

“If Luciano Spalletti were to call me again, it would be a win and would be nice. In the meantime, I’m thinking about doing well in the Bologna shirt.”
