Spalletti Talks Napoli Newcomer and Koulibaly Heir

Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti discussed some transfer market topics after a successful friendly against Perugia. The gaffer praised newcomer Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, who seems to have fit right in (via Corriere dello Sport).

“We moved the ball well, and he added quality in the first him. He is a proper substitute for a champion like Lorenzo Insigne in my mind.”

The boss is open to keeping Matteo Politano despite his agent openly shopping him around.

“I do not know why you want to make a fuss out of it. We would be happy if he stayed, as he would provide an important contribution as he did last season.”

Spalletti is not too concerned with Napoli taking their time in the transfer market.

“We are mulling some additions, but many deals will be completed at the last moment. I have complete trust in the club. It is clear that the fans want to see quality. We have just one way at our disposal, which is to show personality and technique on the pitch.”

The boss directly mentioned Kim Min-Jae.

“He has featured in different leagues, but he is worthy of playing at Napoli and in the Champions League.”

According to the publication, the Azzurri have hijacked the defenders’ proposed move to Rennes at the last minute. They were going to activate his release clause and had come to terms with the center-back, but he is biding time to evaluate their proposal.

Our Take on Spalletti and Napoli

It is flying a little under the radar, but the boss has quietly become a linchpin of the club. He is taking the role in stride even though one could argue he has been handed a raw deal compared to when he first joined, considering the massive technical losses in short order.
