With Manchester United hesitating to trigger their €20M buy clause for Sofyan Amrabat, Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have clued in their interest, asking Fiorentina for information on the player’s availability.
As per latest reports from Relevo, Atleti have enquired with the Fiorentina management about signing Amrabat amid doubts in the air regarding his return to Manchester. Diego Simeone is keen on strengthening his midfield and reportedly sees Amrabat as a suitable addition to boost his team.
United have been making an effort to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who is seen as an up-and-coming talent, as opposed to 27-year-old Amrabat. However, reports also suggest that the English outfit could turn to Amrabat, if their attempt for the Uruguayan falls apart.
The Rojiblancos were also bidding to sign Amrabat last summer, but it was Manchester United who emerged victorious in the transfer race. It is understood that Amrabat wishes to return to Old Trafford, having appeared 30 times for the Red Devils last campaign on loan.
The Morocco international played a vital role for Erik Ten Hag’s squad in their run to claiming superiority over local rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup, despite experiencing an underwhelming league campaign.
