Spanish Veteran Pedro Signifies Immobile Absence in Lazio Defeat

Lazio were visibly off pace in the crucial encounter against Juventus, going 3-0 down in their heaviest defeat of the season so far. The Biancocelesti clearly missed the services of star striker Ciro Immobile in attack, and Pedro believes his absence contributes to the team playing differently.

The Spanish forward spoke to DAZN (Calciomercato) in his post-match talk and shed light on the events that unfolded at the Allianz Stadium.

“The first half we did well, then they capitalized on a mistake and scored. In the second half they did better than us and ended up winning. If you put eleven players behind the ball it is difficult to score goals and create chances. Also, we know that Juventus are very strong on the counterattack, a team against which you cannot make mistakes. Instead, we made 2-3 mistakes.”

The ex-Barcelona and Chelsea attacker then spoke of Immobile’s importance in the Lazio eleven.

“Ciro gives us a lot. He is a point of reference, he plays with and for his teammates. We miss him, he’s a great player. But today nobody did well and that’s why we didn’t have a good game. When Immobile plays, we play differently. We have to fight in every game. So far we have done a good job in the league, but if we want to enter the Champions League we have to continue like this.”

Immobile has been struggling with injuries this term, being ruled out of the Juve clash due to pain in his left thigh during a training session prior to the match.
