Spurs Outcast Winks Offered to José Mourinho’s Roma

Surplus to Antonio Conte’s requirements at Tottenham Hotspur, central midfielder Harry Winks has been offered to Jose Mourinho’s Roma. The Spurs youth academy graduate has been transfer-listed in North London. Following the injury to Giorginio Wijnaldum, who is set to miss games until the start of 2023, the Englishman is the latest player to be linked to a move to the Stadio Olimpico.

According to La Repubblica (via Daily Mail), he has been proposed to the Giallorossi on a season-long loan as his future continues to look uncertain. Having appeared as a fringe player over the last two seasons, Conte wants to offload the 26-year-old to make space in his team, and the Giallorossi emerged as a suitable option for him.

However, Roma aren’t the only Serie A eyeing Winks, nor the most interested. Sampdoria have made the most serious advances for the midfielder at the moment.

Roma are in need of depth in the role, more importantly after Wijnaldum’s leg fracture. For Winks though, he will be keen to join a team where he can get more playing minutes ahead of the 2022 World Cup. The Spurs graduate has 203 caps for his side so far since being promoted to the first team in 2013/14.
