Spurs Replace Icon Lloris with Empoli Starlet Vicario

Prized Empoli shotstopper Gugliemo Vicario is inches away from sealing a move to the Premier League, with Tottenham Hotspur waiting for the Gli Azzurri to accept their bid to the north of €20M.

According to latest information from England via The Guardian, personal terms have reportedly been agreed upon with the Udinese youth product, who has grown to become one of Italy’s most wanted goalkeepers.

Vicario will leave Empoli after two seasons, having just penned a permanent deal in Tuscany at the start of last season. Spurs legend Hugo Lloris revealed his intention to leave the club after 10 years manning the posts, and the North London club have quickly identified his replacement.

Spurs shortlisted several goalkeepers, including Roberto Sanchez, Jordan Pickford and Giorgi Mamardashvili, but Brentford’s David Raya was their number one target. However, Daniel Levy is reluctant to shell €40M for the Spaniard.

Vicario has 71 caps for Empoli.
