Stefano Pioli Officially Signs Contract Extension with Milan

As widely anticipated, Stefano Pioli has penned a new contract with Milan. The deal runs through 2023 and includes one more optional season. The parties had long reached agreement, but they waited for CEO Ivan Gazidis to be present to formalize it.

According to Sky Sport, Pioli will earn €3.5M per year plus add-ons. Director Paolo Maldini told Milan TV after the signature: “We are thrilled to continue a journey that is bringing us great results, and not only on the pitch. We do not want to win in just one season, but we aim to do it long-term. The Rossoneri must resume being competitive at all times.”

The legend dished on Pioli: “He is a key figure. We are committing not only to a coach, but to a person too. We are in sync and we will be able to overcome any problem.” Gazidis added: “It is an important step for us. He is incredible and he is perfect not only to manage the team but also to transmit the right values to the youngsters.”

Pioli commented: “I wish to experience many more big emotions on this bench. We are ambitious and we want to keep going. It was great to hear the fans chant my name. I would like to join them in the Curva at some point. The win over Atletico Madrid was fantastic. I study a lot, up until the last minute. I do not propose anything to the players if I have not examined it deeply beforehand.”
