Napoli and Juventus targeted Georgiy Sudakov last summer and in January but were rebuffed. It’ll be harder to sign him in the next windows. The attacker corroborated the rumors speaking from the Ukrainian retreat ahead of the next friendlies (via Corriere dello Sport).
He was quizzed whether he received offers from Galatasaray, Manchester City, and Barcelona.
“I don’t know anything about the negotiations with them. However, there were official proposals from Juventus and Napoli. Shakhtar turned down €40M from the latter, as the CEO said. I was a little upset at first, but then I understood the club’s reasons. I have yet to give everything I have, and they want to receive more from my sale.”
Sudakov now has a €100M release clause.
“I’ve decided to extend my contract until the end of 2028, adding six months, with a higher salary and very favorable conditions. Some said that the team threw me a bone, but that’s not the case. The execs told me that I would move to Europe in six months or a year. I trust them.”
Sudakov went into details about Juventus, suggesting Napoli could be a better tactical fit.
“Since this story started, I begun watching games. The scheme isn’t all that matters concerning my future, but the Bianconeri only use 3-5-2, which wouldn’t be ideal for me. Still, you can’t only play in 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 if you want to reach certain levels. You have to be creative and versatile.”
