Super League Trio Invite Milan for Pre-Season Friendlies in America

A handful of European Super League ‘rebels’ want to arrange a series of friendlies in the United States before the start of the 2022/23 season, according to reports from ESPN. The preseason tournament is being planned by the main teams who first shelled interest in the highly-controversial Super League.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus are said to be the clubs exploring the possibility of playing it in the USA. The reports indicate that it is being pondered by the big clubs intending to ‘maximize’ profits in order to compensate for the financial distress experienced due to the pandemic. The last two years have forced all European clubs to stay back in the continent – clubs which have made it a habit to travel overseas for friendlies every year in recent times.

The trio have been regular visitors to the States in recent years, having toured the country consistently since 2016 until 2019 for the international Champions Cup. In light of a fourth spot in the four-off tournament, Milan have been approached with a proposal to join by the other three giants of the game.

The dates and venues for tournament is not known, but it will reportedly be held on the West Coast somewhere around August.

Fixtures could include the El Clasico between the two Spanish giants and perhaps an Italian derby between top horses Milan and Juventus.
