Yann Sommer has yet to concede since moving to Inter. He pushed to get the deal done after the Nerazzurri showed interest. He explained his reasoning to SRF from the Switzerland retreat (via OneFootball).
“I’m a starter here, and this gave me even more enthusiasm. It’s one further step in my career. I’ve had a precious and fulfilling time at Bayern Munich. However, I’m the no.1 in Milan, which changes things a lot.”
Sommer is tied to Inter until 2026 and believes he can keep going for a few campaigns.
“I feel great, and I can play football for many more years. Milan is an awesome city and I settled in very well, also in the squad. The supporters help us a lot. The Nerazzurri waited for me. The rapport with the team is good. Italian? I understand a lot but struggle to speak it.”
The Swiss veteran has collected three clean sheets in the matches against Monza, Cagliari, and Fiorentina and has recorded six saves so far. He stood out in particular in the game in Sardinia.
Our Take on Sommer and Inter
There weren’t many doubts he’d be reliable, but they probably had to spend a little more than they initially thought. While they’ll be in a good shape for a year or two, lack of longevity of their additions in this role and upfront will force them to revisit them quite quickly.
