Three Italian Clubs Face Uncertain Futures with Low Liquidity Index

Three out of nine clubs in Serie A are facing critical liquidity problems as the end of the 2021/22 season approaches. The liquidity index is the ratio between assets and short-term liabilities of clubs, and few of them will have difficulties guaranteeing registration in next season’s campaign due to the negative marking.

Italian FA Looking to Introduce Soft Salary Cap to Limit the Spending

Yesterday’s federal council has agreed in principle to a new rule to try to contain the debt of Italian teams by inserting a soft salary cap. The clubs that want to increase their payroll will have to present a suretyship to demonstrate that their investments are sustainable. The norm should be ratified in the next assembly and come into effect as soon as this summer.

Italian Football Association Introduces New Anti Super League Rule

After weathering the Super League storm,  Federations want to prevent similar situations from happening again in the future. FIGC, the Italian Football Association, has amended its bylaws today and UEFA is working on some counter-measures as well. Clubs that want to play in Serie A can not participate in breakaway competitions organized by private associations that are not affiliated with FIFA and UEFA.
