Milan Identify New Left-Back Target After Missing Out on Junior Firpo

Milan will have to continue searching for a new left-back as Junior Firpo is likely to move to Leeds. The latest name suggested to serve as Theo Hernandez's backup is Groningen’s Gabriel Gudmundsson, who would be relatively cheap. The Rossoneri had been tracking the Barcelona defender for some time, but they wanted him only on loan. Milan are not the only teams interested in the 22-year-old Swedish defender though.
Lazio have long set their sights on Alessio Romagnoli, but they have not come to terms with him just yet. His contract with Milan expires in June.

Milan and Barcelona to Look Into Swap Between Out-of-Favor Defenders

The Milan management want to avoid losing further players for free, as happened with Gianluigi Donnarumma. Alessio Romagnoli has a year left on his contract and would like to stay, but he will need to pen an extension in the next few weeks. If he did not, he could be shipped to Barcelona in a swap with Junior Firpo, as the deal would fit the technical needs of both sides. The Spanish left-back is keen on leaving to get more playing time.

Hakan Calhanoglu has not received strong offers besides the Al-Duhail one and is now contemplating accepting the previous Milan proposal. The Turk initially rejected €4M annual wages as he was looking for more. In the meantime, the club has reached an agreement with Brescia to acquire Sandro Tonali permanently. They got a €10M discount between the fee and the bonuses by tweaking the deal and inserting a youngster.

Milan Looking to Close the Deal for Chelsea Defender

Milan want to complete the acquisition of Fikayo Tomori early in the week, but they are still negotiating with Chelsea about the option to buy. The 23-year-old defender would join on an initial loan, but the Italian club is trying to reduce the €30M fee asked by the Blues to eventually acquire him in the summer.
