Manuel Garcia Quilon, the agent of Theo Hernandez, corroborated the chatter about the issues in the talks with Milan to renew the contract of his client but disputed the numbers that have been floated around in an interview with TeleLombardia (via SOSFanta).
“There’s no ongoing negotiation. We haven’t spoken in four of five months, since May or June. They asked me if he was happy and if we wanted to stay. We said yes, and there have been no contacts afterward. He’s comfortable where he is. He’s been here for six years. I can assure that his idea is to reach an agreement and remain as long as possible. However, we don’t have an offer from the club on the table.”
Quilon stated that it’s not true that Theo Hernandez was seeking €8M per year.
“Somebody spread this rumor to influence the public opinion. Things change very quickly in football. I can relay what’s his intent today. He wishes to grow along with the club and have a great season.”
The agent was quizzed about whether the star would stick around even if his deal, which expires in 2026, weren’t extended.
“I don’t know what could happen in a year. He might do that if we don’t come to terms.”
Our Take on Theo Hernandez
Things must be pretty bleak behind the scenes if his representative, who doesn’t chime in often, felt the urge to address the situation and deny some stuff, which was evidently leaked by the management that feathers its own nest. It’s still early, and they happened under a different brass, but they have had their fair share of major departures for free.
