The Five Most Decisive Serie A Fixtures in the Race for Champions League

With the European Super League idea apparently falling apart, we can all resume our lives as normal and shift our focus once again to the remaining Serie A rounds. Whilst Inter winning the Scudetto is a bygone conclusion, the race for the Champions League spots is still heating up between several top Serie A sides.

With Milan, Atalanta, Juventus, Napoli and Lazio all battling for the three positions behind the Nerazzurri, here are the five most decisive fixtures remaining in the race.

Napoli – Lazio (Round 32)

Although these two teams are currently on the outside looking in, they both stand at a striking distance. Napoli are only two points away from Juventus in 4th place, while Lazio have a match in hand.

It should be a close encounter at the Olimpico on Thursday.

Lazio – Milan (Round 33)

These are definitely some decisive days for the Biancocelesti who will have to host yet another direct competitor in the space of few days.

Simone Inzaghi’s men will need the points to remain in the race, whilst Milan would want to avoid a late collapse that would ruin their entire season.

Juventus – Milan (Round 35)

The two Serie A giants are both expected to lock in their Champions League spots for next season, but with the way things are going this campaign – especially for the Old Lady – you just never know.

Just like their earlier meeting this season, we’re expecting a fun and entertaining clash.

Juventus – Inter (Round 37)

Even though Inter will probably have secured the title by that point, they will have the chance to boast with their trophy against their overthrown arch-rivals.

Moreover, Antonio Conte’s men will try to go one further, by perhaps sabotaging the Biancneri’s chances in reaching the big European competition next season.

Atalanta – Milan (Round 38)

This will be the final Serie A day of the season, and Milan fans will be hoping to seal their qualification to the Champions League prior to facing the side that has become their bogeyman in the recent seasons.

If at least one of these two sides is still fighting for a Top 4 spot by that point, then we will be treated with a remarkable finale.
