The Offers Keep Coming, Chelsea on the Hunt for Roma’s Mourinho

Rumors have been circulating of late in Spanish and English newspapers of a potential return to England with Chelsea for coach Jose Mourinho. The Roma tactician has been frequently linked to the exit door at Stadio Olimpico, most recently tied with a move to Saudi Arabia to train the national team after the departure of Herve Renard.

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Mourinho is Todd Boehly’s top priority to take over charge after interim coach Frank Lampard’s stint expires at the end of the season. If the Special One does return, it will be his third stint with the Blues, after his first one between 2004 and 2007, followed by another between 2013 and 2015.

Julian Nagelsmann, Nuno Espirito Santo and Luis Enrique are the three other choices being evaluated to lead the dugout at Stamford Bridge.

The report mentions of Mourinho already receiving a call from the Blues management. However, his future will largely depend on upcoming talks with the Roma board, subject to qualification for the UEFA Champions League next season.

Mourinho and Roma are currently in a tussle for fourth position against Milan, Inter, and Atalanta.
